The Southern Cross Peregrine Project...

....The String of Pearls

One of the goals of the Southern Cross Peregrine Project is to share the wonder and the joy of a peregrine falcon as she migrates between continents. This annual trip is certainly one of the wonders of the animal world and we want to share it with as many people as possible. This especially includes our kids, the future of the world.

So, to spread the word about this event (following a GPS satellite-tagged adult female peregrine from Canada to Chile), we will be making a special effort to include school kids all along the migration route. Whenever possible, we are going to visit schools in the cities that we pass through and contact them.

We call this our “String of Pearls” because as parents ourselves, we value our children, schools and teachers highly. With luck, we hope to see it extend from Canada to Chile along with us.

We first launched this program with Bud Anderson's son Beau, school in Mt. Vernon, Washington, USA. It is called Lincoln School and here is a picture of Beau's class with Lula Belle. Thanks to his principal, Kris Wollan and his teachers, Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. McGovern. Bud's son, Beau, sits atop the truck.

The list below is representative of the "String of Pearls" we encountered along the way.
